You can find soap dishes made out of just about anything - plastic, glass, ceramic, metal, bamboo, or stone. Some of these are eco-friendly. Some aren't. But I found another option that is super eco-friendly - wheat straw. These soap dishes are completely backyard compostable. That means you don't have to send it to a resale shop, recycle, or toss it in the trash at the end of it's life. Instead, it can go back to nature, enriching the soil.
When I moved to the Tampa Bay area I found an awesome zero waste refill store, Lufka. They sell these beauties in a few different colors. They add a soft pop of color by the sink that I love. We use Lufka's bar soap and wheat straw soap dishes in our bathrooms and at the kitchen sink.
If you live in the Tampa Bay area, head to one of Lufka's amazing locations to snag your own wheat straw soap dish. If you don't live near Tampa, visit my Refill Store Directory to find a local refill store near you!
