When you hear the word tape, you probably think of clear plastic tape. This stuff isn't recyclable and contributes to a lot of plastic pollution. Think about papers you toss in the recycling bin with tape on them. If that paper is indeed recycled, it is embedded with plastic. This makes recycled paper a plastic/paper combo that is really bad for the environment.
You can find "green" tape made from renewable plant resources. Unfortunately, the way the tape is made, it becomes the same plastic waste. It's not actually good for the environment.
The most eco-friendly tape out there is kraft paper tape. It has a thick paper front with a really sticky natural rubber adhesive back. You can use this instead of scotch, masking, duct, and shipping tape.
I found my kraft paper tape from the amazing zero waste company, Wisdom Supply Co. It is perfectly safe to toss cardboard or paper with this tape in the recycling bin or backyard compost.
When you need to buy a new roll of tape, skip the plastic and head to Wisdom Supply Co. for the most eco-friendly tape ever! You'll love your zero waste swap!
